I’ve been raising Goldendoodles in Arizona since 2003, with an emphasis on the smaller mini and petite sizes many families are looking for. My puppies are raised right here with us, with plenty of handling, attention, and everyday family interaction from the beginning.

Goldendoodle Temperament & Personality
One of the reasons so many families are drawn to Goldendoodles is their people-loving personality. They combine qualities associated with both Golden Retrievers and Poodles and are often affectionate, playful, intelligent, and eager to be part of whatever their family is doing.
Of course, every puppy is an individual. Some are outgoing little explorers, while others are quieter and more content to stay close to their people. That’s one reason I pay close attention to each puppy’s personality as they grow—I want to help families choose a puppy whose temperament and energy level fit comfortably into their lives.
Goldendoodles also come in a variety of sizes, colors, coat types, and degrees of shedding. While many have lower-shedding coats, no Goldendoodle can be guaranteed to be completely non-shedding.
Raised With People, From Day One
My puppies begin learning about people and family life from the very beginning. They receive daily handling, attention, and affection from me and, when applicable, from their Guardian families. They grow up hearing everyday sounds, being held and played with, and learning that people are a normal—and very important—part of their world.
Goldendoodles are naturally people-oriented dogs, and most are happiest when they’re included in family life. Whether that means going for a walk, riding in the car, playing outside, or simply relaxing beside you at home, they usually want to be wherever their people are.
Like any dog, they need regular exercise, good nutrition, grooming, and plenty of attention throughout their lives. Their coats require routine care, and their minds and bodies benefit from activity, play, and time with the people they love.
Goldendoodle Coats, Colors & Grooming
Goldendoodles can have a wonderful variety of coats, from loose waves to tighter curls, and their colors can range from cream and apricot to rich red, chocolate, black, and other combinations. Even puppies from the same litter can look surprisingly different from one another.
Coat type can also affect shedding, but no Goldendoodle can be guaranteed to be completely non-shedding or allergy-friendly. If shedding or allergies are an important consideration for your family, I’m happy to talk with you about the coats I’m seeing in the individual puppies.
Whatever the coat type, regular grooming is part of Goldendoodle life. Brushing helps prevent mats and tangles, and professional grooming will usually be needed to keep that beautiful doodle coat comfortable and manageable.
Goldendoodle Sizes: Finding the Right Fit
Goldendoodles come in a wide range of sizes, and terms such as petite, mini, medium, and standard can vary somewhat from breeder to breeder. That’s why I think the expected adult weight of a puppy is often more useful than the label alone.
At Copper Skye Doodles, I especially enjoy raising the smaller mini and petite sizes that work so well for many families. When you’re considering one of my puppies, I’ll tell you the expected adult size based on the parents and what I’m seeing as the puppy develops.
- Petite Goldendoodle: 10–19 pounds
- Miniature Goldendoodle: 20–30 pounds

By today’s standards most dogs are either spayed or neutered which levels the field by eliminating all hormones. I have males and females that are both sweet, smart, friendly, playful, loyal, gentle, etc. I also have some males and females that are highly energetic, mischievous, barkers, toy destroyers, etc. Bottom line, each and every dog/puppy has its own unique personality that’s his/hers alone, and that’s why we love them! However, I always tell prospective buyers that if they have a definite gender in mind then that’s the one they should go with.
